Roasted Soybeans (Soy Nuts)

Roasted soy nuts: crunchy soybean snacks with plant protein

Looking for better soy snacks? Standing Tall makes whole roasted soybeans with 12g of plant protein per serving. Sea Salt and Salt & Pepper have 0g of sugar (not a low calorie food). Chili Lime adds a trivial amount of sugar. These crunchy soybean snacks come in three flavors: Sea Salt, Chili Lime and Salt & Pepper. Snacks that stand for more.

What are soy nuts?

They start as dried soybeans that are soaked or cooked, then roasted until crisp. Despite the name, they are not tree nuts. They are a legume, like peanuts, chickpeas and lentils. The roast turns a soft bean into a crunchy snack with a toasty, nutty flavor.

You may also see them called roasted soybeans, soynuts or soya nuts. They are all the same snack.

Why ours taste different

Many bean snacks taste dry, sandy or beany. Ours do not. We start with non-GMO soybeans grown in North America. We roast them until they snap. That gives a light, crisp bite and a clean nutty flavor that lets the seasoning shine.

High-quality plant protein

Like tofu, edamame and other soy products, soybeans deliver high-quality plant protein. Roasted, they score 0.91 on PDCAAS, the measure the FDA uses for protein quality. That nearly matches beef at 0.92.

Pick your flavor

Sea Salt. Our best seller. Just enough salt to bring out the roasted bean.

Chili Lime. Bright lime with a slow chili kick.

Salt & Pepper. A coarse pepper blend for a savory, grown-up snack.

Variety Pack. Can't decide? Try all three.

How to eat them

Straight from the bag is the classic. They also work well as:

  • A crunchy salad topper in place of croutons
  • A trail mix base with dried fruit and dark chocolate
  • A savory swap for chips at lunch
  • A desk drawer or gym bag snack that won't melt or crush
  • A topping for yogurt bowls, soups and grain bowls

Soy nuts vs edamame vs roasted chickpeas

All three are crunchy legume snacks, but they are not the same. Edamame are young green soybeans picked early. Ours are mature soybeans, roasted for a deeper, nuttier flavor. Roasted chickpeas are a different legume with less protein per serving. If protein is the goal, soybeans lead the group. See the side-by-side protein comparison.
